Ann Marr has volunteered for them before and they are one charity that IS taking on volunteers and is desperate for help. They bring in volunteers to look after pets when the elderly and terminally ill are struggling. They're a great charity! Again, many won’t know of them.
User and local community involvement to identify gaps in services and development of new projects to meet community needs
Website promoted locally by Neighbourhood Watch. Quite a bit of advertising, looks good but some won't feel safe using it as you have to state what road you live in. Just a thought.
All local CABs have suspended face-to-face services. to quote the Sussex Express:
People who have already booked appointments at its three branches – in Lewes, Newhaven and Seaford, should not attend, it said, and should instead call 01273 007557.
Jackie Wilkes, chief officer of Lewes District Citizens Advice, said: “Citizens Advice is here to give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward in these difficult times.
People looking for advice can also chat to an advisor online at the Citizens Advice website.”
Residents can get general advice from Citizens Advice by calling 03444 111 444. This is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Their website is here.
The helpline is at 0800 1448444. "Waiting times may be slightly longer than usual..."
| The Government has introduced some changes which give many people some additional temporary protection from eviction at this difficult time. However the legislation does not cover everyone. There have also been changes to the welfare benefits system which will change the amount of money people might be able to receive towards their housing costs under Universal Credit or Housing Benefit. Housing Advice from BHT Eastbourne Advice is still available, the only difference is that they are providing support via telephone and email. If any of the following affect you, or people you know, please contact them and they will try to help: Struggling to pay the rent or got rent arrears Received a notice from your landlord Currently homeless or sofa-surfing In temporary accommodation but not had advice about your situation Please contact 01323 642615 or click here to send an email and they will try to help. If they don’t answer straightaway, please leave a message and they’ll get back to you. Please don’t go to the office as it is closed. |
Offices now closed but website still available.
